December - January: Xishuangbanna and Yuanyang Terraces are the best places to travel in winter. Xishuangbanna enters the dry season and the weather is sunny and comfortable; the terraced rice fields in Yuanyang are stunning. However, it is colder in central Yunnan and north of Kunming, so traveling is not recommended.
